Marine propulsion motor bearings typically employ traditional Babbitt alloy bearings. However, such bearings cannot operate safely under conditions where oil and water mix. The urgent need for bearings capable of functioning in oil-water mixed or oil-starved environments has led to the development of new material bearings by SHCM.
Since June 2009, at the invitation of a research institute, SHCM has conducted specialized research on the technical conditions and requirements of marine propulsion motor bearings and lubrication systems under various operating conditions. In close collaboration with the institute, SHCM has carried out product development, application studies, and trial production of high-performance self-lubricating composite plain bearings (oil-lubricated).
Through a series of efforts, including material formulation optimization, test rig manufacturing, and load testing, the wear resistance, soldering quality, and water-lubrication capability of the products have met the client's standards and requirements. The water-lubrication characteristics and high load-bearing capacity of the composite materials provided by SHCM are unattainable with traditional Babbitt alloy. This research and development significantly enhance the operational safety assurance for marine propulsion motors.
