R&D
Since its inception, SHCM has adhered to a development path driven by technological innovation. Over the years, the company has established high-level technological barriers, ensuring its leading position in the industry and maintaining a differentiated competitive advantage through technological and product excellence.
The company relies on its Enterprise Technology Center to conduct R&D activities, forming a research team primarily composed of young and middle-aged technical talents, complemented by a balanced mix of experienced, mid-career, and young professionals. By continuously improving innovation management for R&D projects and talent development mechanisms, SHCM has built a robust R&D system and stabilized its research team.
The Enterprise Technology Center is equipped with advanced testing and inspection equipment, including a 1000 kN thrust bearing test rig, a large-scale programmable multifunctional self-lubricating bearing testing machine, a full-condition test platform for wind turbine main shaft systems, tensile testing machines, friction and wear testing machines, oscillating testing machines, and coordinate measuring machines. These facilities provide strong support for new product development, enabling diverse testing needs and offering reliable experimental data for market introduction.
The company has gradually increased its R&D investment, with recent years seeing an average R&D expenditure exceeding 8% of sales revenue. An independent accounting system for R&D expenses has been established to ensure the smooth progression of research initiatives.
The Enterprise Technology Center follows an "industry-academia-research" approach to technological innovation, fostering strong collaborative relationships with institutions such as the Harbin Electric National Hydroelectric Power Equipment Engineering Technology Research Center, Dalian University of Technology, Xi’an University of Technology, Chongqing University, Wuhan 712 Research Institute, and the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics.
The company’s main products, including intelligent bearings, elastic metal-plastic bearings, self-lubricating spherical plain bearings, and bimetallic self-lubricating bearings, are all protected by independent intellectual property rights. To date, SHCM holds 48 authorized patents, including 36 invention patents and 12 utility model patents. Notably, the nuclear main pump water-lubricated composite thrust bearing has obtained invention patent authorizations in the United States, Japan, and Russia. The company also led the revision of the national mechanical industry standard Technical Specifications for Elastic Metal-Plastic Pads of Thrust Bearings in Hydroelectric Generators (JB/T 10180-2014), which has been promulgated and implemented.
SHCM possesses the R&D capabilities and experience to undertake major national projects, such as the "14th Five-Year Plan" Renewable Energy Key Special Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as municipal key scientific and technological R&D programs. The company conducts forward-looking technological research in fields such as composite material development and product application technology, driving industry technological advancement and innovation.
