Located in the Meishan Waterway between Meishan Island and the southwestern part of Chuanshan Peninsula in Beilun District, Ningbo, the project adopts a dual-head interception approach. It involves the construction of two sea dikes capable of withstanding once-in-a-century typhoons and storm surges, aiming to establish a typhoon shelter anchorage for fisheries against ultra-strong typhoons. The total investment in the project is approximately 1.93 billion yuan. Construction commenced in May 2012 and was fully completed by the end of 2017.

The project includes the construction of two sluice gates: the South Dike Sluice with five 8-meter-wide openings and the North Dike Sluice with five 8-meter-wide openings, as well as a 500-ton sea ship lock. The dike shoreline spans 30 kilometers, with a water surface width ranging from 400 to 1,100 meters and a water area of 10.85 square kilometers. The project creates a landscape water body with a storage capacity of 60 million cubic meters and involves the management of a shoreline area of 19,998 square kilometers.

For the steel dam gate component of this project, SHCM supplied the gate bearings. The spherical bearings used, model GE2000DFZB-MC, feature an inner diameter of 2,000 mm, making them the largest spherical bearings applied in the domestic steel dam gate sector. During the bidding process, only two domestic manufacturers met the supply criteria. As a core manufacturer of large-scale spherical plain bearings in China, SHCM stood out due to its nearly 30 years of design experience, advanced processing methods, stringent quality control system, thousands of successful application cases, and strong industry reputation—particularly for its outstanding performance in the design and processing of engineering plastic alloy spherical plain bearings for steel dam gates. Through close communication with the project owner, contractors, design institutes, and other stakeholders, the company successfully met the customer's requirements with reasonable pricing, high-quality products, and professional technical support, delivering a satisfactory outcome.

The engineering plastic alloy self-lubricating spherical plain bearings used in the project not only significantly reduced procurement costs for the customer, providing direct economic benefits, but also eliminated the need for oil or grease lubrication during operation, effectively reducing oil pollution in river and marine environments. The widespread adoption of such products holds positive and significant implications for promoting green environmental protection principles and aligning with national environmental policies.
