Gaobei Water Control Project — Self-Lubricating Spherical Plain Bearings

The Gaobei Water Control Project is located upstream of Gaobei Town, Dabu County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, on the main stream of the Han River. It is a comprehensive water control project primarily focused on flood control and water supply, while also incorporating power generation and navigation functions. The project is a key initiative under the provincial water conservancy development plan for the 12th Five-Year Plan period and represents the largest single-investment water conservancy project in Guangdong Province since the founding of the People's Republic of China, with a total investment of 6.154 billion yuan. It is also one of the 172 major water-saving and water-supply projects designated by the State Council Executive Meeting and has been identified as one of the first pilot projects at the national level to involve social capital in the construction and operation of major water conservancy projects.

The project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in 2013, and construction commenced in 2015. The support hinge bearings for the working gates of the drainage outlets were procured in 2017, and installation was fully completed by the end of 2020, followed by gate closure and water impoundment.

The spherical plain bearings supplied by SHCM consist of a stainless steel inner sphere and a copper alloy outer ring. The outer ring is embedded with uniformly distributed self-lubricating material.
