The Three Gorges Project

The emergency bulkhead gates at the intake of the underground powerhouse on the right bank of the Three Gorges Project are installed at the inlet of the water conveyance pipeline for each generating unit. The opening dimensions are 9.6m (width) x 15.25m (height). Each gate is equipped with 34 fixed wheels with a diameter of φ750mm and 2 side wheels with a diameter of φ520mm, which utilize self-lubricating spherical plain bearings with diameters of φ220mm and φ180mm, respectively.

For the emergency bulkhead gates of the Three Gorges Project, SHCM-manufactured self-lubricating spherical plain bearings were selected to completely replace imported ones. This not only reflects the high level of trust placed in our company by the Three Gorges project owner and design institutes but also fully demonstrates that, after years of dedicated technological development, the performance and quality of SHCM products have reached and even surpassed the level of comparable foreign products.

The successful application of our products in this project signifies that domestically produced self-lubricating bearings have officially entered the ranks of internationally advanced technology, ending the monopoly of internationally renowned brands in this field. This achievement represents a significant contribution to the revitalization and development of China's national industry.
